Day 27 of 40. The shame of triviality

When dealing with depression, anxiety, post traumatic stress and so many mental health issues, there can be a feeling that you haven't done anything that merits your condition. After all, we have soldiers coming back from war, first responders dealing with terrible tragedy, victims of every sort of horrible crime and so many more dealing with it too. Their condition is warranted, right. But yours? No, your life has never been even remotely as bad. It's a terrible feeling that you may need just as much support as these who are deserving.

Yes, these who have gone through so much deserve all the help available. Heck, they honestly deserve more than what generally they are offered. We have soldiers living on the streets, dealing with flashbacks, paramedics being told they don't qualify, because they can't prove their issues aren't from the job and so much more. But that doesn't mean your mental health is trivial. You deserve help as well. You deserve to be free from the crushing despair.

Remember this. Seek the help you deserve. And don't feel ashamed that you need it.
