One argument any Christian has had with non-believers is the question of morality. What is moral without some sort of scorekeeper, guide or judge? The argument is as timeless as humanity, itself, and has been changing in recent years. Some Christian debaters have even suggested we should stop even asking. That non-believers intent on arguing have so many answers thought out for it, the question is too simple and incomplete or perhaps there really isn't much to it.
And while I disagree with their reasonings why, I think the issue of morality is a moot point when it discussing faith with a non-believer. I do think the question of where morality comes from, is valid. With God, there really isn't anything moral. There's no right or wrong, good and evil, other than say a majority rule. Of course, the majority's opinion changes over time. What was right in the 1700's is not right today. Does that mean something amoral now was moral three hundred years ago? Was the slave trade moral when it was around? Absolutely not. So we know majority rule is not a good standard of morality. Personal truth is another one used by many. Yet on the issue of slavery, there are still tribes and people groups who believe it is acceptable. It's moral even, as it's better you provide for a defeated enemy or someone from poverty, than to simply allow them to die.
And while morality is a hot topic, I find it shocking how many think morality still guides people. A short stroll through social media, and you will find praise for nine month abortions as a glorious signal of human rights, at the same time, "acceptable" wishes for a Catholic highschool to be bombed or the students to be lit on fire. Taking human life has always been universally accepted as immoral. Outside of war and punishment for heinous crimes. (though many still never think those two are right, either) The most disturbing thing is, the majority of the population doesn't even realize this is now considered acceptable by the world. For people to wish rape on a man's children because they disagree with his political ideals. For places of worship to be forced to closed to repeated violent protests, consistent bomb threats and numerous assaults on the occupants. The call for even police officers to be murdered, until a groups voice is heard.
It's a terrible time to be ignorant of the happenings of the world. To have your head in the sand and just "living your life." People should be shocked, sickened and outrage. Everyone that is, except Christians.
Believers of the Bible are told, repeatedly, that the world is evil. That there is no depths of depravity that sin, left unchecked, can reach. The verses that tells that there is not a single good (moral) human and how we will call the immoral, good and call the moral, evil.
I will say, that just because we should expect such depravity, we should not accept it. We should be outraged at it. We should strive to stop its spreading. Standing up to laws and rules who further the cause of sin in our land. By doing so, we protect others who do not know what is good. We give them the chance to see it. To see love laid down as we sacrifice our comforts to fight against the dark powers of the world. The thief is coming. Be vigilant and ready.
