Something I have pondered over is how foolish certain thoughts in science are when facing reality. If scientific atheists are correct, then our existence is meaningless. As my kids and I decided, we are a speck on a speck in a group of specks and so forth. There is literally nothing we will do that's useful. We die and become dust. And one day, the sun itself will implode. When that happens, all traces of humanity ever existing will be wiped clean.
Taking care of the earth is meaningless. Prosperous or in waste will get wiped away. Humanitarian or tyranny is likewise no longer an issue. In fact, good and evil, itself becomes an invalid notion. (if there could even be such a thing without a "scorekeeper" outside of our moral reality) It's useless. Everything is.
I would say this topic isn't often discussed in this way. But recently I saw a movie called Greater (amazing movie, true story, football and faith) and the one characters did bring this up to the main character. Ranting and raving. So the thought has been realized by some!
Of course, further hypocrisy arises by the fact that those opposed to something greater than humanity existing. They stand by a belief that says our decisions are made by neuron pulses into organic tissue. We don't "decide" ourselves, rather things are decided for us by electrons. If I can't actually make decisions, then it is pointless to tell me to not believe in God. Just as pointless as any argument or disagreement there is.
Of course, this is insanity. We know this. Humans innately understand there is meaning to their lives. That they have worth. This is why we have searched for the answer to "why are we here" since the beginning. Tribes, clans, nations, states, countries, empires, all of them have long looked for that very answer. Even without knowledge of the Bible. Religions, creators, spiritual matters, it erupts in every corner of the earth, because humans knows things didn't just appear as a mistake and that there is a purpose.
And that's a fact that everyone needs to understand. As it's freeing in so many facets of their lives.
